Selection process

A panel reviews the applications, shortlists suitable candidates and invites the shortlisted candidates for interview.

Note: we do not pay travel expenses for interviews.

The panel asks each interviewee the same questions to compare how you meet the role requirements. You may be asked to describe your experience and skills, clarify information from your application and discuss other relevant information.

The panel may also request work samples, skills tests and/or presentations but you will be told before the interview if any of these techniques will be used.

Reference checks

The panel will ask the highest rating candidates to provide referees’ names and phone numbers who we contact to verify information gathered through the selection process.

Successful applicant

The successful applicant will undergo employment screening including a criminal history check. Note: a criminal conviction or charge does not automatically exclude you from a job with QBCC. The QBCC has discretion in this matter.

Applicant feedback

All applicants will be advised of the outcome of the vacancy and feedback is available to unsuccessful applicants on request.
